FORMER vice president Nevers Mumba has commended President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration for introducing the Benefits of Former Presidents and Former Vice Presidents Bill, saying they have scored a historic landmark. Mumba says the inclusion of former vice presidents in the Bill reflects President Hichilema’s commitment to improving the welfare of leaders who have served the nation at the highest level. Last Wednesday, government introduced the Benefits of Former Presidents and Former Vice Presidents Bill to the National Assembly. The proposed law seeks to provide retirement benefits for former presidents and vice presidents of Zambia, while repealing and replacing the Benefits of Former Presidents Act of 1993.
