THE death of former minister Mutotwe Kafwaya has cast a dark shadow over our country. Whatever the circumstances surrounding the security operation in Kabulonga, whatever allegations are ultimately proved and whatever explanations the State may offer, one painful fact remains: a Zambian citizen is dead. This recent development has left a scar on our country, on our democracy and, above all, on our humanity. Perhaps the most troubling part of this entire ordeal is the impression that critical information may have been withheld from the public. We find it difficult to believe that the officers who shot and killed Mr Kafwaya could not identify him, even after his death.
