CHIEF Sokontwe of the Ushi people in Milenge District, Luapula Province, has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema and the Department of Immigration to release Celestine Mukandila, insisting that he is a Zambian citizen and not Congolese. Recently, the Department of Immigration arrested Tonse Alliance Secretary General Mukandila following a report relating to his immigration status. Mukandila added to the list of 11 Tonse Alliance members who were recently arrested by the police and charged with treason. Speaking when he appeared on Grindstone TV, Sunday, Chief Sokontwe said Mukandila was born on February 20, 1990 and that his parents only went to Congo for employment before returning to Zambia.
