United States Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote says it is time to stop the facade that his country enjoys warm relations with Zambia because they are strained.
And Ambassador Foote says he will not attend World Aids Day celebrations tomorrow because he has received threats against his life following his comments on homosexuality.
At a press briefing this morning, Ambassador Foote said it was time to advocate for truth and openness in Zambia and if no one is going to do it, he would, no matter the consequences.
Ambassador Foote said Zambia’s current government expects diplomats to be complaint whilst keeping open pockets.
“In my two years here in your wonderful country, I have tried to improve the US, Zambia partnership with minimal success. Let us stop the facade that our governments have enjoyed warm and cordial relations. The Current government of Zambia wants foreign diplomats to be compliant; with open pocket books and closed mouths,” said Ambassador Foote.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Foote said he was shocked by the amount of venom and hate directed at him and his country in the name of a “Christian nation”.

Yes we are a Christian nation and that’s why we don’t tolerate men to sleep with men. God created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Adam. So if you want to teach our Children strange sexual behavior, you are not welcome here and you can keep your check.
One of the goodness of “true” democracy is the respect for human rights. I feel the U.S.A Ambassador Foote must be left freely to express his views. He is just enjoying his freedom of expression. In my opinion, I see nothing challenging to me economically about his views- on homosexuality. Let’s focus on major issues that are directly affecting our economy and livelihood, such load-shedding, youth unemployment and climate change. Suppose Ambassador Foote make his views on effects of climate change on Zambia, is he going to be attacked by persons having divergent views? Let us be wise because real Christians are wise. IT’S MY OPINION.
Real christians dont discriminate. Sin is sin and all sinners should be given same treatment. This is what the ambassador is saying and please Christian nation lets read our bibles. In this case read 1st Cor 6: 9 – 11. Just my opinion. Dont crucify me .
