As Green Buffaloes football team prepare to face a Tunisian side, CS Sfaxien this evening (18hrs Zambian time, Thursday) Tanzanian side Simba Sports club has jetted in the country to face Kitwe giants Nkana in the CAF Champions league tomorrow.
The statistics on the number of times that the two sides, Nkana and Simba have clashed indicate that odds are favouring the Kitwe giants although Simba cannot be ruled out on winning the tier as they have been doing great in the Tanzanian league with the input of Zambia’s Cletus Chama Chota.
When the two sides clashed in 2002 at Nkana stadium, the encounter ended in a 4-0 humiliation of Simba SC and current Nkana Coach Bestone Chambeshi said he had no intentions of upsetting the statistics adding that he will ensure that they remain in favour of his side.
“I have seen their games that they have played in their country and I will tell you that they are a very good team. It would be carelessness on our behalf if we underrated them. We need to play for everything and not relax for a second. The earlier we score, the better because trying to equalize sometimes results into panicking,” said Chambeshi in an interview with Goal Diggers!.
Simba SC may take comfort in Cletus Chama’s in-form and his nose for netting goals at almost any give chance but he will have to break through the Nkana defense that has the likes of Musa Muhammed, Richard Ocran, Gift Zulu and Moses Nyondo.
Meanwhile, Simba defenders will also have to tighten their boots for the sensational dribbling of Harrison Chisala, Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba, lead assist Kelvin Kampamba and the energetic Walter Bwalya in this mouth-watering clash.
The highest Simba SC has gone in the competition is the group stage in 2003 while Nkana has a record of five semifinals and one final in the continent’s biggest cup league.
