Police in Solwezi have retrieved a body of a 33 year old missing person from Chijingejinge compound identified as Gilbert Banda.
And the body has since been buried at Kimiteto Cemetery, marked for future exhumation by state pathologists.
North Western Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka disclosed in a statement that the deceased was reported missing on January 11, 2018 and was discovered and retrieved on January 23rd 2018 in Solwezi river near fisheries.
Daka said after villagers reported that there was a body floating in the river, police with the help of fire brigade rushed to the scene and retrieved it.
“The body was found swollen and in a semi-decomposed state making it difficult to see any physical injuries on it. Later the deceased’s body was Identified by Kapansa Geoffrey of Kazomba compound in Solwezi district as that of his cousin, Gilbert Banda aged 33 who is Chewa by tribe of Chijingejinge compound, a self employed electrician,” explained Daka.
“He went missing on January 11, 2018 at unknown time and was reported as a missing person at Hospital Police post. Deceased’s body has since been buried at Kimiteto Cemetery as it was semi decomposed, grave marked for future exhumation by state pathologists. Cause of death not established. Meanwhile docket of sudden and unnatural death Opened.”
