PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says those holding party office from the ward to the provincial level and wish to contest in the August elections either as member of parliament, mayor or councillor should step aside.
In a circular dated 9th March, 2021, Patriotic Front secretary general Davies Mwila announced that President Lungu appointed six provincial chairpersons on a temporary basis.
“I wish to inform you that those holding party office from the ward to the province and wish to contest the forth-coming general elections either as councilor, member of parliament, mayor and or council chairperson have been directed to step aside on temporal basis until after general elections,” read the circular in part.
“The Party president has therefore appointed the following to act as provincial Chairpersons on a temporary basis. Bernard Zulu- Copperbelt Province, Simon Lwando- Luapula Province, Alexander Miti- Eastern Province. Glen Kalimbwe- Western Province, Justine Mutale- Muchinga Province and Kenneth Mulwanda- Central Province.”
