DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Lillian Siyunyi says she wonders what evidence is there that she has abused her authority.
In a letter dated February 14, 2022, the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) wrote to Tobias Milambo informing him that it was in receipt of his letter in which he accused Siyunyi of abusing her authority in a matter involving him and two others.
“RE: COMPLAINT AGAINST THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS MS LILLIAN FULATA SHAWA SIYUNYI FOR ABUSE OF AUTHORITY IN THE CASE OF THE PEOPLE-V- TOBIAS MILAMBO, NACHI MUSONDA AND RICHARD LUBEMBA 25PP/172/2019. I write to acknowledge receipt of your complaint to the commission as indicated above. I wish to inform you that the complaint will be presented before the Commission for consideration. You will be communicated to on the outcome in due course,” the letter read.
But in an interview, Siyunyi said if an accusation was thrown without any evidence, then the accused person shouldn’t be crucified.
“And the evidence is what exactly? If I just throw an accusation without any evidence and 1 [million] members of the public say crucify the accused then we should proceed and do that? I think we can do better than that as a nation,” said Siyunyi.
