Zambia Medical Association president Dr Kaumba Tolopu says the cholera outbreak should act as a wake-up call to the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LWSC) to solve the water crisis in the country. On Wednesday this week, Health Minister Sylvia Masebo revealed that her ministry had recorded a confirmed case of cholera in Lusaka’s Kanyama township, while another person was reported to have died of suspected cholera. She said the confirmed case involved a female aged 21 who presented at Kanyama Hospital on October 14 with acute watery diarrhoea and vomiting.
