THE European Union’s Election Follow-up Mission final report on Zambia has noted that despite government’s efforts to improve the country’s economic situation, high food prices and inflation have affected people’s daily lives, leading to frustration and general discontent. And the report states that according to several EU Election Follow-up Mission (EFM) interlocutors, President Hakainde Hichilema and his government did not deliver as expected on reforms to restore the rule of law, including fundamental rights and freedoms during the first half of his term.
