THE University of Zambia Students’ Union Disciplinary Commission has ordered the student union’s Electoral Commission to recount the presidential votes from the October 18, 2024 elections, in which Dixon Mutambo, alias “the Governor”, was declared UNZASU president. The Commission has directed that the recount be conducted today in the presence of observers from the UNZA Dean of Students Office. On October 18, 2024, UNZA held elections and elected Mutambo as UNZASU president. However, his closest rival, Peter Chabu, petitioned the Disciplinary Committee against Mutambo’s victory, seeking a recount of the votes cast in the presidential election.
