THE Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia (PSZ) has condemned the “abrupt” removal of the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency Interim Director General by government. In July this year, the ZAMMSA board appointed Ministry of Health Chief Principal Pharmacist Luke Alutuli as Interim Director General, following the suspension of the entity’s then Director General Victor Nyasulu. This was after former Health Minister Sylvia Masebo revealed that 61 out of 74 containers of medication which were supposed to be stored at the ZAMMSA warehouse had been diverted to a private warehouse without the knowledge of the Ministry and the ZAMMSA board.
