FORMER Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale says the heavy rains experienced in some parts of the country present an opportunity for water harvesting, which can then flow into the Zambezi River. In an interview, Hamukale, who is an agricultural scientist and economist, said for rural communities, this is an opportunity to harvest water into communal dams. “For Zesco and the DMMU, it is an opportunity to facilitate water inflows into the Zambezi river from all small rivers and tributaries in order to increase water volumes for hydro power at our Kariba main dam.
