DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri has urged prosecutors to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in resolving cases to facilitate the swift disposal of criminal cases. Speaking during the opening of the High Court criminal sessions for Northern Province in Kasama District, Monday, Phiri emphasized the need for innovative mechanisms to disposal of cases, citing overcrowding of inmates. “Last year I had the opportunity to tour a lot of correctional facilities and I can confirm the troubling reality of overcrowding.
