FORMER Energy Minister Yamfwa Mukanga says the projected 1,000 megawatt increase in power generation by the Ministry can help reduce load shedding and improve people’s livelihoods. Mukanga says reality should be seen with such projects being implemented. Recently, the Ministry of Energy said it had identified a portfolio of strategic power projects intended to add 1,000 megawatts (MW) to the national grid by December 2025, in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive. In an interview, Monday, Mukanga said once actualised, the 1,000 megawatts power project could improve the citizens’ livelihoods. “If they achieve what they are saying, then it will go a long way in trying to reduce the load-shedding and also improve the lives of the people of Zambia....
