A UPND councillor in Livingstone, Samson Kandala, has urged the ACC to appeal the acquittal of Mayor Constance Muleabai for corrupt practices involving K180,000. Kandala, who is Shungu Ward councillor, said the judgment sets a very bad precedent for the ruling party’s fight against corruption. On Monday, Lusaka-based Senior Resident Magistrate Trevor Kasanda set Muleabai free on an indictment technicality, despite admitting that the ACC did establish during trial that Muleabai corruptly obtained K180,000 as gratification to secure a 100 per cent remission of property rates for Zamnuka Farms.
