THE Nakonde Magistrates’ Court has convicted and fined three Tanzanian truck drivers K50,000 each for attempting to smuggle 510 logs of Mukula out of Zambia. In a statement, Sunday, Zambia Revenue Authority Acting Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala said Daudi Kasele, Raphael Ngala and Bruno Nzasule would serve nine months simple imprisonment if they failed to pay the fine. He explained that the convicts attempted to smuggle the Mukula out of Zambia between December 3 and 11, 2021 in Nakonde and would have defrauded government of revenue amounting to K285,158.
