FORMER Intercity PF cadre Francis Muchemwa has appealed his three-year sentence in the Lusaka High Court after he was convicted of being in possession of proceeds of crime. Muchemwa has asked the High Court to set aside his conviction and order a retrial or an acquital. In July last year, Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili convicted and sentenced Muchemwa to three years imprisonment with hard labour for being in possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime. Magistrate Chibwili also fined Muchemwa K141,000 for obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretence.
