The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a South African national for trafficking in cocaine weighing over one kilogram.
And DEC has also arrested a herbalist of Kalongwezi area in Chipata District of Eastern Province for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 30.6 KG.
In a statement today, DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo said the South African national was intercepted at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Ethiopia while the Herbalist was intercepted at Chinyunyu Check Point in Chongwe District.
“Zanele Marvis Mpi, 42, a House Maid of Port Elizabeth in the Republic of South Africa has been arrested for trafficking in cocaine weighing 1.28kg. The suspect was intercepted at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Ethiopia. And the Commission in Lusaka has also arrested a Herbalist of Chipata District for trafficking in loose cannabis. Parick Satala Bwalya, 27, a Herbalist of Kalongwezi Area in Chipata District has been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 30.6kg. The suspect was intercepted at Chinyunyu Check Point in Chongwe District,” stated Katongo.
Katongo stated that the two suspects would appear in court soon.
