President Edgar Lungu’s advisor for political affairs Kaizer Zulu was on Sunday night involved in a road traffic accident with his official vehicle, News Diggers has learned.
According to government sources, Zulu was driving the vehicle with an unknown passenger when the accident happened around Munali area in Lusaka.
The beige Toyota Land Cruiser VX V8 registration number ALG 3464 which is still parked at the police station, however, had its number plate removed.
“This is being kept tightly under wraps so you will be lucky to get any confirmation or comments from the established channels. Even us, no one knows the whole story, some are saying he was with a friend from Mass Media, but you can try to verify that. It’s really being kept tight this one,” said the sources.
Zulu was not picking calls by press time yesterday and Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo could not confirm the accident.
“No, I didn’t get any information on that one. Try to call Mr [Nelson] Phiri (Lusaka Province Police Commissioner). Another person also called me over that but I don’t have information,” said Katongo.
Phiri also said he would follow up the report, which he said he was not aware of.
President Lungu is in Turkey to attend the inauguration of that country’s president, but both Zulu and his press aide Amos Chanda remained behind.
