The Ndola Magistrates’ Court has convicted a real estate agent for corruption and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with hard labour.
According to a statement from ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono, Tuesday, Ndola Senior Resident Magistrate Osward Chibalo found Tobias Nkhoma, a real estate agent, guilty of one count of obtaining money by false pretenses and two counts of uttering False documents.
“Particulars in count one are that Tobias Nkhoma, aged 49 of Chifubu, Ndola district on unknown dates but between 27th January, 2016 and 30th June, 2016 jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown, by false pretences and with intent to defraud, obtained a sum of K17,200 from Nsofu Chilaisha in two instalments of K 7,200 and K10,000 as partial payment for the purported sale of property number L/Chichele/11. In count two, Tobias Nkhoma, on unknown dates but between 1st March 2016 and 30th March, 2016 in Ndola district jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false invitation to treat dated 9th March, 2016 to Nsofu Chilaisha relating to property number L/Chichele/11,” stated Moono.
“In count three, Tobias Nkhoma , on unknown dates but between 1st March 2016 and 30th March, 2016 in Ndola district jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false offer letter dated 10th March, 2016 to Nsofu Chilaisha relating to property number L/Chichele/11.
The Anti-Corruption Commission in 2016 arrested and charged Tobias Nkhoma with one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and two counts of Uttering False documents contrary to section 352 of the Penal Code.”
