UPND chairperson for elections Gary Nkombo says the ruling party’s victory in the recently held ward by-elections is an indication that people still believe in the party despite economic challenges. UPND emerged victorious in all ward by-elections held last Thursday in Central and Western Provinces. For Mukubwe ward in Ngabwe district, Central Province, UPND candidate Alick Lumingu emerged victorious with 648 votes, while Socialist Party candidate Christopher Kabunda came in second with 178 votes, with PF’s Eric Chiyuni taking the third place with 66 votes. In Upangoma ward, Kalabo district, Western Province, the UPND candidate Mwechela Sianga polled 261 votes, while PF’s Simakalecha Namuchana got 28 votes.
