UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda says UPND’s overall performance in all by-elections shows how strong the party is becoming. The ruling UPND scooped Mtilizi ward seat in the Local Government by-elections held in Nyimba Constituency, Eastern Province scoring 2,152 votes. Returning Officer Stephen Mbita declared Lloyd Mwenda duly elected at around 22:28 hours. In an interview, Friday, Imenda boasted that the party had performed extremely well in by-elections since assuming office. “What we are saying is that when you go to ECZ and start making comparisons from 1991 to date, how many by-elections have we undertaken and how many by-elections have been won by the UPND?
