NEWCOMER Alton Banda put up a remarkable performance to score a perfect five points in five rounds and lead the 2023 Lusaka Province Chess Association (LPCA) National Team Phase One Trial taking place at National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) Main Campus in Lusaka. The Phase One of trials in the Open Section has attracted 105 players and only three players will be selected to contest for national team places in Phase two. Titled players in Candidate Masters(CM), Fide Masters (FM), and International Masters (IM) have been exempted from Phase One trials.
