A 38-YEAR-OLD clergyman and teacher at Matero Boys Secondary School has appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court and has denied stealing K717,600 meant for GCE candidates. In this matter, Alifasi Banda, who also serves as a reverend at the Reformed Church in Zambia, is facing one count of theft by public servant. It is alleged that Banda, on dates on dates unknown but between January 1, 2025 and March 7, 2025, in Lusaka, being a person employed in the public service as a teacher, did steal K717,600-00, the property of the Government, that came in his possession by virtue of his employment.
