Chipolopolo interim coach Aggrey Chiyangi has challenged the squad to unleash their best performance when they play against South Africa in an international friendly on Saturday.
Chiyangi said in an interview that the highest level a player can play football at is country level, saying players should this give their best.
“It’s a very big advantage because you can assess the players and see where you think they are lagging behind and also there are certain things that we need to talk with these players. No it doesn’t lessen our work because where they are playing is country level and where we are playing is national team level meaning that levels are higher here at national team level so all they need to do is that they have to give us their best. The others will be in I think Thursday evening,”he said.
And Chiyangi says he will have enough time to assess the players as they arrived on time from their clubs.
“For us it’s a very important game because it’s helping us prepare for two important tournament’s that we are going to have: the CHAN and the AFCON. It has come at the right one so that at least we can have even those players that haven’t been with us for sometime so that we see them, their levels and also to make sure that they mingle with other players that we could be using in the CHAN,” he said.
“I know that South Africa beat us in the last game that we played with them. But again football is progressive. We don’t remain at the same spot. We are developing, they are also developing. The only thing that we have to know is that it is going to be a different game because it’s a new game. And everyone has got their targets, so for us I think it has come at the right time and I think it’s going to be good preparation for our team.”
