WHEN the Patriotic Front lost power in 2021, many feared that the party would disintegrate, disappear into oblivion and lose its relevance. The defeated leaders of the party claimed that they would rebrand and bounce back, but that was never going to be possible because what united those leaders was the abuse of power, which they no longer had and the money stolen from public coffers, which they also didn’t have anymore. The only problem for democracy was that the Patriotic Front was supposed to be the biggest opposition in Parliament, given the number of MPs the party retained.
