The Super league club has parted company with head coach Srdan Zivojnov’s and appointed on an interim basis Tenant Chembo as his replacement.
The Serbian trainer told the media at a briefing recently that he had ditched the Copperbelt based side following a contrast between his philosophy and that of the club.
But the club’s media team confirmed to the press, Monday, that his contract had in fact expired on 30 May 2019 adding that the club has decided not to renew it.
“Builcon FC wishes to confirm the non-renewal of Head Coach Srdan Zivojnov’s contract. The Head Coach‘s contract expired on the 30 of May 2019. In this regard the club wishes to thank the coach for his contributions to the Buildcon Project during his tenure. Further the club wishes him the best in his future endeavours. Meanwhile Assistant Coach Tenant Chembo will act as head coach until further notice. The club now wishes coach Tenant Chembo the best as he embarks on his new role. We thank everyone for your continued support.”
Chembo was initially the clubs head coach before the side alias ‘team Kopala’ acquired the services of the Serbian international during the transitional period.
Buildcon overhauled the squad during the transitional period after they brought in a total of ten players, eight of them from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The team’s performance however remained lacklustre despite the changes made. The club ended the transitional period just comfortably above the relegation zone but far from challenging for Silverware or qualifying to play in continental competitions.
Chembo’s will be called back to duty on the 10th of August when the restructure MTN Super league commences.
