PF NATIONAL mobilisation committee chairperson Richard Musukwa says UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s illusion that he’s winning the August 12 general election will make him go mad.
Commenting on Hichilema’s remarks that whether President Edgar Lungu liked it or not he would be removed from government this year, Musukwa argued that Hichilema was “living an illusion” because the veteran opposition leader was set for a sixth successive electoral defeat.
“Hakainde Hichilema is living an illusion and his ilusion will make me go mad after August, 2021. The people who change the government are the people of Zambia, it is not Hakainde Hichilema. If it was Hakainde Hichilema, we could have lost elections a long time ago. The people who have the mandate to change the government are the people of Zambia, they are the judges, not Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND. Hichilema must brace for a massive defeat on 12th August by Edgar Chagwa Lungu and the PF. The rhetoric, theatre and drama associated with his way of doing things will not take him to State House because for him, his focus is only State House and not the people of Zambia and their interests. Edgar Lungu will win the August elections based on the economic and development trajectory, which PF has put in place,” Muskuwa said in an interview.
“From what you can clearly see, for Hakainde Hichilema, going to State House is a matter of life and death. What is his interest? We are in the driving seat of this country, we will ensure that we propel non-violence, issue-based campaigns to ensure we return to State House and power. The kind of politics that we hear that is being practiced by Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND are politics of hate, politics of personal agranditations. PF’s resolve is to continue to transform Zambia, to fight poverty, to fight corruption. These are our benchmarks and this is the pedestal on which Edgar Lungu stands on. To ensure that poverty is fought across the country.”
Muskuwa, who is also Chililabombwe PF member of parliament, argued that the UPND had no numbers to win the upcoming general election.
“As mobilisation chairman, I can assure you that the UPND have no numbers, and this information their image-builders and election strategists have told them that they have no numbers and they cannot win. What we expect UPND is to ensure that they should be braced for a massive loss and accept defeat. They have no numbers! That is why he (Hichilema) continues to agitate the people in order to promote violence. We will not entertain that! Elections and change of leadership is done through the ballot box. We know that he has tried this for the last five times and for him it is the last fight. In this last fight, the 12 rounds, we will give him a K.O. knockout in the first round! PF will ensure that this time around, we will move from this type of politics so that we can have a credible opposition that should be able to look at issues based on promoting Zambians’ development and economic trajectory other than this hatred that has disseminated the political space because of one person,” said Musukwa.
“HH must concentrate on reorganising his party instead of always all the time he opens his mouth is to demean, insult…All the time he wants to speak ill of the President who has continued to ignore him. Edgar Lungu has continued to ignore HH because they are not at the same level of politics and he has left him to continue hallucinating! We want to ensure that Zambia returns to credible politics and to a credible opposition. Certainly, that is not found in the UPND. We, as PF, are on the ground countrywide on the grassroots appealing to our people to look critically at the developmental trajectory, which we have started. We are game to ensure that we provide leadership to the people of Zambia.”
