PARLIAMENT has ratified the appointment of Gilbert Phiri, Patrick Kangwa and Tom Shamakamba to serve as DPP, Secretary to the Cabinet and ACC Director-General, respectively. Parliament has further ratified the appointment of Mwangala Zaloumis, Ali Simwinga and McDonald Chipenzi to serve as Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Commissioner of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), respectively. The Parliamentary Select Committee earlier submitted that all appointments were made on merit, adding that there was insufficient evidence to find Shamakamba guilty of misconduct, as the complaint against him was made over 10 years ago and LAZ failed to prosecute the matter.
