A DEDICATED teacher in Lusaka has lamented overstaffing in the district, saying that in some cases, teachers only work twice a week and spend the rest of the time relaxing because they have nothing to do. The teacher has cited schools such as Kamwala, Kabulonga, Munali, Chelstone, Twin Palms, Northmead and Olympia as examples of overstaffed institutions. He has urged government to redeploy the excess staff to understaffed areas and to freeze social science teacher deployments, noting that the current workforce is more than enough.
