SOME restaurant owners in Lusaka have lamented that the escalating mealie meal prices have forced them to reduce the quantity of nshima given to customers. Some of the businesses operating in Lusaka’s Longacres and Northmead areas also argue that they are yet to try out the much publicised ZNS mealie meal as customers usually scramble for that brand which is cheaper. A recent check by News Diggers found that Melissa Supermarket outlets both in Kabulonga and Northmead had stocked the ZNS mealie meal brand and selling it at K228 and K188 for a 25 kilogram bag of breakfast and roller meal, respectively, compared to the K230 and K190 price in Shoprite.
