ZAMBIA’s top-ranked judokas Simon Zulu and Steven Mung’andu ended the Niamey Niger African Open Judo Championship on an exciting note after scooping gold and bronze medals respectively. Just a week after another podium finish at the Abidjan African Open in Ivory Coast where they won silver and gold for Zambia, the duo performed excellently to ensure Zambia’s flag and national anthem were sung during the prize presentation on Saturday night. Zulu beat Ivory Coast’s Dabone Daouda to claim gold in the 60 Kg category after a tightly contested fight.
