PF acting president Given Lubinda says people regret voting for President Hakainde Hichilema because they have realised that he is a liar who deceived them.

And PF acting Secretary General Nickson Chilangwa says his party will soon get back into government because it has just temporarily handed over power to UPND.

Speaking when he drummed up support for Kennedy Katongo, who is the PF candidate for the Local Government by-election in Luwingu, Saturday, Lubinda said UPND lied to the electorate.

“They came here and said ‘when you elect us into power we will bring free education’. Isn’t that what they said? They lied and removed the PTA. They have also increased fuel prices and increased bus fares. The children will now be failing to go to school. Does that mean they have removed school fees? They said when you elect them into power they will reduce the cost of fertiliser from K500 to K200. When Edgar Lungu left power, the government used to buy fertiliser at K900. We bought fertiliser for the whole country,” he said.

“When they came into power, they gave their friend a contract to buy fertiliser which was in Zambia, not at K900 but sold to the government at K1,400. Where did the extra K500 go? Is that not stealing? When you see a man grabbing his friend’s wife and brings her to his home, however, this man tells his wife that her ex-husband is useless, tomorrow he also says the same thing that the pregnancy his wife is carrying is for the ex-husband. Can you say that he is sensible? When you grab someone’s wife, you have to keep her better than she was being kept by her ex-husband. If you find the new husband complaining every day, just know that things are hard.”

Lubinda claimed that everywhere he went, people kept saying President Hichilema deceived them and they regretted voting for him.

“President Hakainde Hichilema, I know him very well. When we were forming UPND, Hakainde Hichilema was not around. I was there with Anderson Mazoka. When we were forming UPND in 1998 Hakainde Hichilema was not around. He just grabbed the presidency when Anderson Mazoka died and said he would be UPND president. The UPND constitution says one cannot be UPND president for more than 10 years. When the 10 years elapses, you need to pave way for others,” said Lubinda.

“For Hakainde Hichilema, it has been 23 years and he has still held on to that position of being UPND president. He has changed the UPND constitution so that he can be a life president. Is that a person you can trust? In Kabwata he is called ‘Bally Muntu Wabufi’ BMW. This is someone who lies because everything he says is a lie. He told you that he would give you fertiliser, has that fertiliser come? Everywhere we go people are saying the man deceived us, we voted for him over deceit. They are telling us that they regret voting for him.”

Meanwhile, Chilangwa said PF would get back into government because the party just temporarily handed over power to the UPND.

“As PF, we are going to get back into power because we have temporarily handed over power to the UPND. We have just lent power to the UPND. I want to promise you that the entire country is worried about the UPND’s governance. The country, including in Lusaka, Copperbelt and other provinces, even in their stronghold in Southern province, people are crying. There is no way you go into a shop to buy cooking oil left by PF at K15 but today you find it at K30. After a few days, you can find it at 35 and again after a few days it will be K40. Right now even as I speak it will be K55 or K60. Is that how you govern the country? It seems they have run out of ideas, maybe they did not even have ideas,” said Chilangwa.
