FORMER president Edgar Lungu has questioned why farmers are not allowed to sell maize at their own price, stating that a price-controlled economy is what led the UNIP government to be voted out of power. And Lungu says it will be difficult for PF MPs to defend themselves in 2026 because the ruling party will try to use the increased CDF, which is not reaching the intended beneficiaries, to de-campaign them. Meanwhile, Senior Chief Mwamba of the Bemba-speaking people of Northern Province says government should consider giving more farming inputs to provinces that receive more rainfall.
