LUAPULA Province chiefs have rejected Viet-Zam’s proposed $72 billion investment, in which the investor is seeking approval for over six million hectares of land, stating that they don’t believe it has the financial capacity to develop the project. The traditional leaders argue that the reviewed documents show that the company is more interested in mining than in agriculture. VIET-ZAM Diversified Development Corporation Limited has proposed to implement a rice farming project in Northern, Luapula and Muchinga Provinces on over six million hectares of land over a period of 99 years or more.
