KABUSHI PF member of parliament Bowman Lusambo says he is in politics so that one day he can be President of Zambia.

In an interview, Lusambo said he wanted President Hakainde Hichilema to succeed so that he can find the country’s economy in a good condition.

“For me I would want the President to succeed. When Presidents succeed, all of us we will succeed. When he fails, all of us will fail. When I become President, I want to start on a good note, I don’t want to go back on the drawing board. I want to start on a good note. One day, I have to rule this country, that is why I am in politics, definitely I have to rule this country. I want to find this country on a good note, I don’t want to go back to the IMF, I don’t want to go to these other lending institutions. I want to find a country which has functional institutions, economic institutions which are making money within the country,” he said.

And Lusambo said President Hichilema should emulate Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera by removing all cabinet Ministers involved in corruption.

“I hope and trust that we will see a similar situation happening in our country because these crop of Ministers, they are criminals, they are corrupt. I can assure you that we know the activities, we know what has been happening. We are seeing what is happening. So even the President has taken time to do the reshuffles. The President is a new man in government and government system. The President was supposed to be a fast learner but we have seen that the President is a slow learner. A fast learner makes a decisive decision,” he said.

“What we have seen in Malawi, we wanted to see that type of situation in Zambia two months, three months ago because those guys, the Ministers for President Hakainde Hichilema, they came as vultures, not as servants or workers. We don’t know why the President has kept this crop of Ministers up to now.”

He said UPND had a number of members who could perform better than the current Cabinet Ministers.

“We have young boys who can work, for instance we talk about Sesheke MP, he can work, Brian Kambita he can work, even the Chief Whip Mulusa, let them give the Chief Whip to an old person. Those (Stanford) Mulusa’s are supposed to be Ministers who can run. We have Mwandi MP, that lady can work. We have a lot of people who can run but they opted to give us vultures. The President should just make a move. Copying the right thing is not bad. Let him also reshuffle the Permanent Secretaries. Those Permanent Secretaries are sitting ducks, they don’t know what they are doing. You know these Presidents when they go to State House, they become different people all together. The things they were thinking of doing when they were in opposition, everything they change,” said Lusambo.
